Heirloom Rustic Flag
Rustic flag made from dead timber. The stripes are Red Cedar and White Pine and are natural color. The only color added is the blue field and the stars. The outer frame is Black Walnut and the back has a wire for wall mounting. From beginning to end, this flag took over a month to complete. Signed on the back and listed as serial #2.
George VanOrden served nearly 22 years in the Marine Corps and retired in December of 2003. During his career, he served as a Mountain Warfare Instructor, Drill Instructor, Recon Instructor and Range Officer. A graduate of Airborne school, military SCUBA school and numerous other training courses, George specialized in demolition, explosives and landmine warfare.
George is a 4th generation Marine, and is originally from Fulks Run, Va. He lives on the property his ancestors have passed down for nearly 200 years, and is married with 3 grown children.
After serving around the world in chaotic environments, George enjoys creating art from re-purposed lumber and lumber he has harvested from dead trees on his property.
